Now and Through the Years
I've never been to the city,
Where the cars and trucks roll by.
I've spent my life a loner, Just me and the open sky.
I've lived free of the stressful things,
They tell of in the news.
I've had freinds and family,
Not much I didn't use.
But when this time is over,
When they lay me down.
Don't put me in a fancy car,
And parade me through the town.
Just tie my horse to the wagon,
And lead me out to rest.
If folks should ever ask you,
Juat tell them I'm out west.
And for my freinds and family,
Let them not shed a tear.
For I'll be watching over them,
For now and through the years.
